WHEN WILL INDIA BECOME A DEVELOPED COUNTRY????

India - A country with 1.4 billion people, often regarded as a third-world country by westerners, is yet to reach the 5 Trillion dollar Economy. Narendra Modi's Government has anticipated that India's GDP could reach 5 Trillion USD by 2025. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 Pandemic has slowed the growth, and The IMF(International Monetary Fund) has projected that India could reach that target by 2027. The COVID-19 Pandemic has hampered growth but India has managed well to recover from it and grow by 7.4% in 2022. The Russia-Ukraine War threatens the world economy and might push the world into another recession. Higher Inflation in The USA and European Countries is a bad omen for the world's economy. Surprisingly, India has fared well during the war, its inflation rate is well below 7%, and its GDP reached 3.5 Trillion USD in 2022 to become the 5th largest economy in the world by overtaking the United Kingdom.

Everything seems to be good in the hood for India until and unless you get into some important details. Achieving the "developed country" tag is not only about GDP. It's way beyond that. The Criteria to achieve that tag are dependent on many factors like GDP per capita, hunger index, press index, gender equality, etc.

India slips to 101st rank in the Global Hunger Index 2021, behind its neighbors Pakistan and Nepal. It was 55 in 2014 and rapidly slipped to 101 in just seven years. The largest Democracy in the world hasn't fared well on the democracy index. India falls to 53rd rank in EIU's Democracy Index, falling by 26 positions since 2014. India's press freedom rank is 142 currently, which poses a threat to upcoming journalists. Gender equality is still a distant dream in India. It is ranked 140 of 156 countries in the gender gap report, which is very concerning. India ranks 139 out of 149 countries in the World Happiness report. India's GDP per capita in 2020-21 was less than that of its neighbor- Bangladesh. Bangladesh's GDP per capita was around 2227 USD, slightly ahead of India's 1947 USD.

India's Human Development Index rank is way below its southern neighbor-Srilanka. Srilanka's HDI rank was 72 out of 189, and India is lowly seeded at 131. India's Economic Freedom index rank in 2021 is 121 out of 184.

Westerners often regard India as a third-world country. Poverty, uncleanliness, slums, pollution, lack of public facilities, and corruption tarnish India's Image worldwide. Foreign Media spares no chance of degrading India. Their reporting often consists of poor slums, beggars, sewers, and some footage of polluted Delhi. They often undermine India's Achievements and portray India as a cheap and disgusting country.

Can we trust them?? Is everything going downhill for India?? Is the quality of life cheap and pathetic in India??

Well, it depends on how you look at things. If you keep on focusing on the negative side and ignore the positive side, India does seem like a pathetic country. If a person is interested in knowing about a particular country, they must know about the positives and the negatives too.

India has been doing exceedingly well in the IT sector. India has had 105 unicorns to date. Modi's Government policies have brought many investments to the country. They have been investing in roads, infrastructure, education, and IT. Modi's pitch for Atmanirbhar Bharat is also showing results. India is manufacturing its weapons and aircraft carriers. They have been ramping their defense exports to countries like Malaysia, the Philippines, and Argentina. India is also a global leader in pharmaceuticals. They have supplied COVID-19 vaccines to many countries as a part of their Vaccine diplomacy. UPI has also initiated the digitalization of India. It has led to cashless transactions within the country. It has garnered praise from countries like France and Russia.

PM Narendra Modi has set a deadline to make India a developed country by 2047. That goal can be possible if the Indians start working. Indian youth must step up and contribute to India's growth. Indians must leave the colonial past behind and must work tirelessly hard. The Population is an asset to our country and we must use it to our utmost potential rather than it's too late. India must also encourage women's participation in all sectors. India's Future seems bright. They can reach the 5 Trillion mark by 2027 and the 10 Trillion mark by 2035.

Let's see what could be in store for us!!!!!!
